Former One Direction star Liam Payne has been found dead at a hotel in Buenos Aires at the age of 31.

The British singer is understood to have fallen from the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel in the Palermo neighborhood around 5 p.m. local time.

According to authorities, Payne fell around 14 meters from a balcony. His body was found in the courtyard surrounded by tables and chairs.

TMZ reports Payne was sighted acting erratically in the hotel lobby earlier in the day, with multiple sources telling the outlet that emergency services were called with reports of an “aggressive” male.

The publication claims Payne smashed his laptop and had to be carried back to his room.

Alberto Crescenti, head of the Buenos Aires’ public emergency medical services, confirmed the star’s death, saying he suffered “very serious injuries incompatible with life”.
